Regulation of the Home Inspection Industry

Regulation of the home inspection industry.  HB 2315 would require all home inspectors to register with the Secretary of State's office.  The Secretary of State would require all home inspectors to pass a national home inspection exam, maintain membership in a national home inspection association, obtain annual continuing education, carry general liability insurance and maintain financial responsibility mechanisms.

HB 2315 would also prohibit home inspectors from limiting their liability for errors and omissions during the home inspection to less than $10,000.  Currently, nothing prevents a home inspector from including a provision in a home inspection contract which limits their liability for errors and omissions to the price of the home inspection.
